Common SSPA Requirements

While each state’s SSPA varies, most share these core requirements:

  • Written disclosures at least 3 days before signing
  • Court approval based on the best interest standard
  • Notice to interested parties (annuity issuer, obligor, beneficiaries)
  • Right to independent advice from an attorney or CPA
  • Discounted present value using the Applicable Federal Rate
